DeVaughn Watts’ music career began when he started playing percussion at the age of 10 and continued playing percussion all the way through college. DeVaughn attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff for Music and Sound Recording. While in college, he furthered his musical experience as a member of the band, first as a percussion section leader during his sophomore and junior year and then one of the Drum Majors in charge of a 300 person band his senior year. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree, he went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Sound Design for Film/TV from the Savannah College of Art and Design. It was during this time that he discovered music editing and instantly knew that it was the perfect fit for his skill set. After graduating, DeVaughn packed everything he could into his car and drove from Savannah, GA to Los Angeles to begin his career in music editing. Upon arrival, DeVaughn quickly begin paving his way and building relationships in the film music world. His growing list of credit’s include assisting on such projects as The Defiant Ones, The Predator, and Jordan Peele’s US as well as editing on Guava Island and No No No Yes. DeVaughn is a firm believer in creating one’s own opportunities and strives to do so with every project that comes his way.
